Ashkahn

Out of Redondo Beach, California, Ashkahn graduated with a BFA from Otis College of Art & Design,. He now spends his days working at Ubiquity Records designing album covers, posters and graphics. “His work is sort of an irreverant Andy Warhol meets SoCal: it’s fun/cool/iconic.” (Critic)

Low or high tech

Low! Forever! There is nothing like low tech, nothing! Low tech is alive, it has the human touch.

Early influences

Graffi ti, Obey Giant, John Cage, Jeff Koons, Techno, Bruce Nauman & high school girls.

Personal work vs. commercial work

Personal. The more gray hairs I get, I realize that personal work is where I do my best work, the work I’m happy with.

Favorites

Brown rice, Heather, the Avant Garde, Brian Eno, Alan Fletcher, Paul Rand, Cass McCombs, Karaoke & the ocean to name a few. Very few.

Future

Is brighter than ever. I’m too excited for it. I can’t sit still and anticipate everything there is to come.
