This project wouldn’t be complete without working with some of our favorite photographers. For our first season we were lucky enough to work with Daniella Renee, a lifestyle and fashion photographer who shoots for dozens of major publications but finds the time to work with Art Share LA, a school that provides access to art education for the underprivileged.
Inspiration
People are my inspiration, places. My subjects that I am working with inspire me to create for them. The camera freezes a second in time, and you can’t ever take that back. So make it count! It’s there whether you like it or not. But people and life all around me gives me the crazy thoughts that race through my mind. Very rarely do I come up with an idea all on my own. I start with a concept and work with others, makeup artists, stylists, artists etc.
We all bring our own elements to the project. I have been working
with the same people for years…. we click.
Working Environment
I prefer to work on location of my subjects choice. I think that they really call the shots, so if they want to shoot in a trash heap… then we shoot in a trash heap. There is a reason why that person wants to shoot there. They are attracted to it or share some thought, energy or experience with it. So it brings them to life in the images we create.
Working Process
I just get it done… I’m hyper organized and obsessive about procedures….. with my work.. not with the dirty laundry on my bathroom floor.
Motivation
People people people, and places. I’ve traveled all over the world, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, France, Canada. I’ve lived in a few more New York, Utah, Sun Valley Idaho, San Diego and Santa Barbara to name a few. I think seeing the world and people from different walks of life opened my eyes and my heart. Being able to accept others as is not an easy task. But it opens up your mind and the creative vault locked inside you. What I couldn’t fit in 2 suit cases and a camera bag, wasn’t coming with me. And my kid Kain… and my husband Chris. I think I have taken more pictures of my son Kain than I have of anything in my life. I just like to snap away, it’s all interesting to look at later in life. It’s fun…..
Reading
Aside from Montessori child rearing books… I am hooked on Twilight! Yes I’m a sucker for the vampire trilogy. I’m on book 3… my husband teases me every night, he makes me use a book light so he can sleep.
Most Inspiring Person
I come from a long line of creative women but mostly my mom…. she was in the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus… she flew trapeze and rode elephants. My mom was crazy!!! She taught me to be fearless, and driven. She raised 4 girls to be creative go getters! Actually she was trying to raise a Dr., lawyer, dentist. and a teacher. She ended up with: A Photographer, a Marketing Manager PR rep,a Massage Therapist, and a Dancer (and not the pole kind).
