Here are some photos of the Simbiosis exhibition Ruben Sanchez aka “Zoonchez” did earlier this year in Madrid, Spain along with Danny Wainwright and Alex Castañeda. More about Ruben’s art here.

www.Zoonchez.com
Born in Madrid, Ruben Sanchez currently splits his time between Barcelona and New York City as the art director for Spain’s Alai Skateboards. A self-taught artist, Ruben has a strong graphic style that resonates through all his projects. He works with a variety of mediums including original and digital illustration, graffiti, painting, graphic design, animation and video.
Inspiration
Cubism, stained glass art, mediterranean, mosaics, flamenco, some scandinavian art,
picasso, juan gris, stig lindberg.
Working Environment
Chaos. Dirty wood pieces over the place, sketchbooks, newspapers, a 2002 iMac, a broken Macbook, a Wacom intuos A5, a Canon 400d, lens, tons of markers, brushes, acrylics, beers, sprays, friends. Music all the time, mostly hip-hop and Flamenco.
Working Process
A crazy idea sometimes in the most unexpected situation > remembering it is (the hardest step) > draw it in a piece of paper, napkin, sketchbook > use hands or computer to produce it > change a lot of things from the original sketch > finish it.
Motivation
Mi familia, mis amigos, my NY family, travels, skateboarding, graffiti, to live doing what I want. Someone telling me that he / she likes what I do, that’s motivation.
Reading
The last 3 books I read were The Bilderberg Club, The curious world of drugs and their friends, Omertà.
Most Inspiring Person
My dad, he’s a warrior.
